Description
Lesson 11 · Pluscuamperfecto · The Two-Step Time Machine ⏪⏪
One tense. One verb. One apple.
The Pluscuamperfecto is the past before the past. Instead of memorising tables, you learn it with a picture: the Two-Step Time Machine ⏪⏪. It jumps into the past and from there one more step back. Everything revolves around one verb (comer) and one object (una manzana). That is very little – and that is exactly why it sticks.
- yo había comido
- tú habías comido
- él había comido
- nosotros habíamos comido
- vosotros habíais comido
- ellas habían comido

Good to know
This is a lesson, not a complete textbook: it covers only the Pluscuamperfecto with the verb “comer”, with no irregular verbs. “él” stands for él, ella and usted, “ellas” for ellos, ellas and ustedes – the verb form is the same in each case.
